Moon Sequence (Chandra Krama)
A softer, slower sequence to balance the intensity of Ashtanga.
Description
In the tradition of Ashtanga Yoga, there is no physical practice on the full moon. This pause is not a break from discipline, but a recognition of the natural rhythms that influence both the body and the mind. The full moon is often associated with heightened energy, restlessness, and increased emotional and physical sensitivity. Rather than pushing against this, we use this time to soften, slow down, and turn inward. This class offers a Moon inspired sequence drawing influence from the work of Matthew Sweeney, designed to complement your regular Ashtanga practice. Where Ashtanga builds heat, structure, and strength, this practice emphasises on: - Slower, more conscious movement - Gentle, circular transitions - Deep, steady breathing - Release through the hips, spine, and nervous system The intention is not to achieve or progress, but to restore balance, support recovery, and create space in both body and mind. This practice is suitable for: - Regular Ashtanga practitioners needing recovery - Those feeling fatigued, tight, or mentally busy - Anyone seeking a more introspective, grounding experience By honoring the full moon in this way, we maintain consistency in practice while respecting the body’s need for variation, recovery, and longevity.
